Quick-witted and agile wordsmiths simply adore this game! But, how do you play Fortunately, Unfortunately, if you are new to the rules? It’s simple: the point is to reverse the fortune of the previous statement. In case you are not quick enough, or you mess up, you get a strike. Three strikes and you’re out.
The game can extend to as many people there are in the room (or, in your case, in the vehicle), and here’s how to play it:
- Someone begins the game by saying “Fortunately,” and then something good
- The next person has to find something unfortunate about what’s been said, that is – say “Unfortunately” to that statement
A game like this is super fun when you are traveling with your family, friends, with your co-workers or any other group. FYI, this is a perfect game to play when you have a layover in San Francisco national airport or some similar conundrum, too!
The Movie Game
Think you know everything there is to know about the film? Think again! If you are a movie buff, you’ll fall not only get challenged by this game but fall in love with it in an instant! The point of the game is to connect actors with movies that they’ve starred in.
How to play the Movie Game? This is how:
- Someone starts the game by naming an actor/actress
- The next person continues by naming the film that actor/actress has starred in
- The following person now needs to name another, different actor/actress who starred in that movie
- Then another person needs to say a movie the newly mentioned actor played in
The game continues until someone is unable to keep the chain going. You can play individually (“every man for himself”) or in pairs.
Never Have I Ever
A game as old as time (well, probably not as old as time, but close) is a fantastic way to spend your time on the road. - The first player says a thing they’ve never done before starting with “Never have I ever.”

The play can continue for as long as the players don’t get bored. Plus, the idea is not to make pointless statements that no one can relate to but mention something that’d happened in real time and space.
